Vintage Markel Electric Heetaire wall heater for sale. Made in Canada in the 1950’s with a wonderful Art Deco mid-century design. The body is made from highly polished aluminum to create (what the manufacture calls) a Nuchrome finish. The model number of this forced-air Heetaire unit is C233T and it’s rated at 1500w/120vac. It has built-in power switch with an adjustable thermostatic control. Used, but in good working condition. C/w Heetaire metal back-box. Below if info about the manufacture… Joseph Markel (1888-1966) was born in Lithuania. He came to the United States in 1891 and established the Markel Electric Fitments company in 1923 in Buffalo, New York. They were well known in the lighting industry, designing & manufacturing all types of fixtures for the general public. In 1936, the company opened their second factory in Fort Erie Ontario. By this time, the company had expended their product-line to include high-quality electric heating devices. Some of the types included baseboard, fan-forced, and portable heaters, with the most famous models being the Fan-Glo, Heetaire, and Neo-Glo lines. However, by 1978, Markel Electric was sold to Scovill Inc., and the Fort Erie plant was closed in 1979.
