Seeking Volunteers for Gambling Study at U of C. $90 Compensation!

The Addictive Behaviours Laboratory at the University of Calgary is currently seeking volunteers for a CONFIDENTIAL study that explores cognitive, biological, and genetic underpinnings of disordered gambling.

Biological relatives share genes and a family environment, but often do not share the disorder of problem gambling. By studying family members, we will be able to gain a better understanding of genetic and environmental risk factors that influence behaviour. In order to explore biological and genetic factors involved in disordered gambling, we are inviting people who have experienced problems with compulsive gambling AND at least one of their relatives to participate in our study.

- MUST have experienced problems related to your gambling during your lifetime.
- MUST be willing to refer at least one FIRST-DEGREE relative (i.e., a parent, child, or FULL sibling) currently living in Calgary to the study so that we can invite your relative(s) to participate in the study. Your relative(s) is/are NOT required to have experienced any problems with gambling.
- Volunteers MUST be at least 18 years old.

- You will be contacted for a short telephone interview to determine if you are eligible for the study.
- Eligible participants will be invited to visit the University of Calgary for assessments and cognitive testing.
- Participation is done over the course of two sessions, each session lasting approximately 2 - 4 hours.
- Volunteers and their relative(s) do NOT participate in the study together. Participation does NOT involve any type of individual, group, or family counselling.

Eligible volunteers receive $90 compensation for participation in the study in the form of gift cards.
