Skilled translator (English to French – French to English)
I developed my passion for translation while re-translating, for free, horribly translated commercial products label which were sold in Canada. (Some of which were hilarious) There is a reason why industry recommends using a Canadian French native speaking translator.
While I do not have a degree in translation, I have accumulated several years of written translation. I believe that translation is not about the direct translation of words but rather about the meaning of the message you wish to convey... they should be the same! The language and culture should not be "lost in translation".
I believe that a translator should have a deep knowledge of the subject in both the source and target language, otherwise how can the meaning be maintained?
Most translators charge, 0.25¢ + per word, while I prefer to evaluate the complexity of a project and then provide a fair price for the project.
During my 25 years in the CAF I have translated, on several occasions, training schedules, lesson plans, and articles for military newsletters & newspapers.
I have also provided translation service for the organization "Youth for Christ International".
Areas of expertise: Military documents, commercial products/marketing, History, Law, Christianity (religious), creative writing (book) and adult education-like leadership training and group development.
I'm confident in my expertise, and will provide you with a sampling of the work before we agree to a price for project completion.
